Dubai, UAE, August 1, 2015: Wasl Hospitality & Leisure has announced the opening of Hyatt Place Baniyas Square in Dubai. The new facility from the hospitality subsidiary of v – Dubai’s leading real estate development and management organisation – is the second Hyatt Place hotel in the Middle East and marks Wasl and the Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s extension of the mid-range hospitality brand in Dubai.
The opening of Hyatt Place Baniyas Square follows Wasl Hospitality & Leisure’s launch of the Hyatt Place Al Rigga in May 2014, which brought the brand to the Middle East for the first time. The inaugural Hyatt Place hotel in the region formed part of the Wasl trio project and was successful in recording over 80 per cent occupancy rate in its first year of operations.
“We are extremely pleased with the early results from the Hyatt Place Baniyas Square, which recorded 40 per cent occupancy on its first day of business. This is an exceptional figure for the hotel industry, particularly in light of the fact that it is low season. We anticipate that the hotel will go on to match the performance of its sister facility, Hyatt Place Al Rigga, which has maintained a high level of occupancy in the 12 months since it has been open,” said Hesham Al Qassim, CEO, Wasl.
Hyatt Place Baniyas Square’s impressive results from launch have been attributed to its prime location in the heart of the old city and its high level of value-for-money services. Strategically situated just 12 minutes from Dubai International Airport, the new hotel is a one-minute walk from the Baniyas Square metro station, enabling excellent connections to the city’s many tourist attractions. Popular local features include the Dubai Museum, the Dubai Creek and Deira’s gold, spice and textile souks. The location means that guests are able to combine the exploration of some of the emirate’s top heritage attractions with the conducting of business meetings in the hotel itself.
Hyatt Place Baniyas Square’s attractive facilities and services that are enticing guests include 126 spacious guestrooms, each featuring the plush Hyatt Grand Bed® and a Cozy Corner® with sectional sofa-sleeper and a separate living and work space; free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel; free public computers and internet access; a free daily hot breakfast; a 24-hour gym and an outdoor swimming pool. Guests are also able to use the hotel’s free shuttle service to access Dubai’s leading shopping malls and the Mamzar Beach Park.
“We have plans to open another Hyatt Place by the end of 2016 as part of the Wasl district project in Deira. We identified the gap in the quality mid-range hotels in 2010 and started building a number of hotels in 2011 to fill the gap and provide Dubai with quality 3 and 4 star hotels. Wasl currently owns 13 hotels including the 2 new Hyatt Place hotels and we have 17 hotels in the pipeline to be built and open for business from now until 2019, which will take the Wasl Hospitality portfolio from nearly 5,000 rooms today to a total of 10,000 rooms,” added Al Qassim.
